Grays opens for the Leicester Pride Festival 11am-late
Family Pride followed by Queer Rave 5-10.30pm

Grays Coffee Shop & Kitchen at LCB Depot opens from 11am on Saturday 31 August for the Leicester Pride Festival. The Festival Parade starts at Orton Square near LCB Depot and goes up to Victoria Park.

Grays will be open from midday hosting Family Pride, a day of fun activities for all ages to enjoy, DJ’s, Kids Dance Sessions, Food and much more.

Hermione Purvis will be performing as Pride the Clown Penguin! She will be performing audience interactive, family friendly, inclusive LGBTQIA+ poems and stories!

Fuelled Dance Theatre will be with us on the day, hosting scheduled dance sessions for all ages from 1.30. All dance sessions are free to attend and open to all ages.

FDT will also be performing a piece "y.O.u". y.O.u is a physical theatre duet portraying the raw hardships in same sex relationships within the queer community. Inspired by the Artistic Director's first experience of being in a same sex relationship, dealing with the crippling reality of homophobia and the fear of coming out. Confronting the romanticized stereotypes of lesbians that the media and society portrays. y.O.u is apologetically raw, a representation of love and the suffering that comes with it.

Live art by Grace Jaay and Taffy Grais in the courtyard.

13:30, 14:30, 15:30 Workshops with Fuelled Dance Theatre
14:15, 15:15, 16:15 Pride The Penguin Clown by Hermione Purvis

The family friendly activities will draw to an end at around 4pm, with everyone who has attended the dance sessions invited to dance on stage in the courtyard area all together.

After then, with the help of some good friends, we will transform the venue and those in it (if they want) into A Queer Rave from 5 to 10.30pm hosted by Shady Cow : Music by Baby Tap

" After the success of the last Queer Rave at LCB Depot we're doing it all again to celebrate Pride in Leicester on Saturday 31st August. The night has been curated by Danni Spooner and will be hosted Franx from Shady Cow. Franx is a musician & artist based in Nottingham and an active presence within Midlands queer culture having founded the live music showcase 'Shady Cow' and a number of other projects that aim to bring queer creatives together along with progressive performance & energy to midlands queer nightlife.

The event is free to attend, we just ask that you respect our policy for the space."

Leicester Pride parade : Cultural Quarter to Victoria Park

Organisers have called on people taking part to arrive no later than 11.30am outside Curve in Rutland Street - and groups larger than five people should register in advance via the Pride website to help organisers plan the layout of the parade.

Taking part is free.

From Curve the parade will set off at noon, heading along Rutland Street to turn left onto Humberstone Gate.

The procession will then wend its way past the Clock Tower and on to High Street, Silver Street, and then down Loseby Lane.

The march will then move on to St Martin's and then Hotel Street and Market Street, before heading up New Walk, arriving at Victoria Park by around 1pm.

For people unable to take part in the parade, a free Pride Bus will depart from outside the Rainbow and Dove in Charles Street to the festival site at Victoria Park - it runs every 15 minutes from 11am - 9pm.
